Kopar Khairane
Kopar Khairane is a node of the city of Navi Mumbai. It was built mostly on reclaimed land by CIDCO. Three engineering degree colleges (LTCOE, ACPE (now shifted to Kharghar), Smt. Indira Gandhi College of Engineering) and one engineering diploma college are located in Koparkhairane. It is adequately connected by bus to Mumbai and other Navi Mumbai nodes.
Kopar Khairane Railway Station
Kopar khairne station
Koparkhairane is the fourth railway station on the Thane-Turbhe-Nerul/Vashi Railway Line which was commissioned on 9 November 2004.It is situated at a distance of 12 km from Thane railway station and 7 km from Vashi railway station.
The railway station is located in Sector 8A of the node. It is accessible from both the Thane-Belapur Road on the eastern side and the Kopar Khairane node on the western side. On the Thane-Belapur Road side of the station is located the enormous Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge Center City (DAKC), the headquarters of Reliance Communications - the largest CDMA telecom operator in India.
Also located closely is Millennium Business Park (MBP) which houses software consulting companies such as Patni Computer Systems, Mastek Ltd, L&T Infotech, L&T Control & Automation Unit, 3Di Systems, Hexaware, Object Edge India etc.
As of 2008, there were 17 services a day on this rail line in either direction. They are proposed to be expanded in future. Currently (since JAN 2009) there are 45 services on either side from Vashi and Thane. It takes less than twenty minutes to reach Thane. And also 16 services on either side from Nerul and Thane started since JAN 2009. It takes hardly 15 minutes to reach Nerul. Also (since JAN 2009) 2 services on either side from Panvel and Thane have started it just takes Thirty Eight minutes to reach Panvel.
There is an upcoming demand for a new bridge over the Thane creek from Koparkhairane to Kannamwar Nagar in Vikroli, Mumbai off the eastern express highway so as to connect the eastern subursbs of Mumbai. This will establish a much desired third bridge linking Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
As in the rest of Navi Mumbai, the real estate prices in Koparkhairane have sky rocketed. One factor that has ostensibly led to this is the announcement by Reliance Industries that it is going to build the biggest corporate house in the world here. This corporate house would be located in the huge tract of land in Koperkhairane and Ghansoli.
The current rates as on 1 July 2008 range between Rs.4000 to 5000 per square feet for residential properties.
